Buranda State School motto:
I’m proud of who I am and of my school,
I will do my best
to be honest and responsible
to be a good friend
to learn
and to enjoy my time at school.
That’s what we mean by ‘only the best’.
Buranda Sate School is a government primary school catering to children in the first seven years of their schooling. Classes range from Prep to Year 6.
Buranda State School is 3.5 kilometres from the GPO in Brisbane, Australia. The school has an enrolment management plan in place. There is a waiting list operating.
The school draws its students from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. The students represent a wide range of abilities, from those with significant learning disabilities to those who are highly gifted. Some families move into the area in order to enrol their children in the school. We enjoy a very high level of parent and community involvement and support.
Buranda students are happy, engaged and motivated, and they achieve good results. They are encouraged to wonder, imagine, question, puzzle and think – alone and with others. Buranda students like being at school and they enjoy learning.
At Buranda, children are offered an excellent basic education. In addition to this, they are taught philosophy, and environmental education. Students are expected to become responsible and successful learners.
We strive to develop people who:
Can work respectfully with one another.
Can solve novel problems.
Understand about this fragile land on which we live.
Have a social conscience.
Have a good understanding of themselves as individuals.
